Massachusetts Personal Injury Report – Sedan crashes into elderly bicyclist

Massachusetts Personal Injury Attorney reports 2 bicyclist hit and severely wounded, 1 killed by vehicle in Marshfield area.

Marshfield, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews) – An elderly bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in Marshfield, announced Boston Globe.

Near the Green Harbor Marina, an elderly man was riding his bicycle and went to cross Dyke Road where he was fatally injured when a car crashed into him mid-Wednesday morning. The driver was a young woman in her 20’s driving a sedan when she hit the bicyclist.

A retired firefighter, Cliff Woodard, employed by at a local store, witnessed the accident. He ran out to help the man lying on the ground as soon as he heard the tires of the sedan screech before hitting the elderly man.

Police officials reported that the elderly victim sustained major head wounds from the crash. The sedans windshield was broken in. The bicycle was badly damaged. Officials stated that the damages revealed that the bicyclist was struck from behind.

Paramedics transported the bicyclist to Governor Edward Winslow School for the trauma helicopter to pick him up to take him to the Massachusetts General Hospital in the Boston area.

The man died before doctors and nurses could treat him at the hospital. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fatal accident. Police have not pressed charges against the driver as of yet.

Another fatal accident occurred, in Lowell, when a man in his 40’s was hit while riding his bike by a SUV. The teenage driver crashed into the bicyclist with her 1999 Ford Explorer on Middlesex Road. The bicyclist was transported via emergency medical services to Beth Israel Hospital in the Boston area. Information about the bicyclist injuries has not be publicized.
