Truck Accident Announcement – Pickup truck collides with van injuring 8 people

Long Island Truck Accident Attorneys report 8 people injured after pickup truck drives into oncoming traffic and hit a car in Suffolk County.

Suffolk County, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — A van and pickup truck head on collision injured 8 people on Montauk Highway in Southampton, New York, announced the Southampton Press.

Fire rescue workers and paramedics showed up to assist with the crash. Both drivers of the two wrecked vehicles were flown via emergency helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center by Suffolk Officials to be treated for their severe injuries. The passengers riding in each vehicle were transported to the Peconic Bay Medical Center for their minor injuries.

Investigators stated that 53-year-old Kevin Kavanaugh had been driving his Toyota pickup truck traveling east on the freeway, when he swerved over the median across the center of the road and drove straight into oncoming traffic. The pickup truck hit a Fort Econline van head on.

The driver of the van was identified as 22-year-old Jenny Dacierno, resident of North Sea. Authorities have not disclosed the names of the passengers traveling in either vehicle. Investigators are looking into the reason for the reckless driving. Officials believe that this crash was not a result of alcohol.

It is not known as to why this accident had occurred. Police authorities are continuing to take a deeper look at this case to figure out the cause.
