Rhode Island couple killed by truck collision

Police are investigating delivery truck crashed into minivan killed the elderly couple and injured the truck driver. 

Cumberland, RI (NewYorkInjuryNews.com)—An older couple was driving their minivan in Cumberland, Rhode Island, when they were hit and killed by an oncoming delivery truck Thursday after lunch, reported Boston Globe.  The man and woman were seen departing from an ice cream shop, located at4280 Diamond Hill Road, got into their minivan and then went to pull out of the parking lot to turn left to go northbound, stated Police Authorities.

A delivery truck was heading southbound turned and crashed into the minivan. The male driver of the vehicle and his female passenger were killed upon impact.  The driver of the minivan was 87-years-old. The female passenger was 77-year-old woman. The names of the man or woman had yet to be released.

The resident’s hometown will be announced as the investigation progresses. The driver of the delivery truck was taken care of by Emergency Personnel who transported him to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was released late Thursday evening.  Police investigators along with Rhode Island Detectives are taking a deeper look into this accident.
