Feds issue recall of Texas company’s tubs for drowning hazard.

Dallas, TX(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov and Crane Plumbing, LLC issued a recall of approximately 5,500 bath tubs with a whirlpool on June 23, 2009. Crane Plumbing is a firm based out of Dallas, Texas. The voluntary recall was issued after federal regulators discovered the openings of the tubs’ drain covers can catch on to a bather’s hair. The caught hair can cause a bather’s head bather’s to be pulled under water, posing a drowning hazard.

The recalled products, Crane Bath Tubs With A Whirlpool, are acrylic tubs made in the United States and Canada. The bath tubs are equipped with 6 to 12 jets. The Dallas company’s logo is either on the whirlpool and/or on the air control valve. The recalled items retailed for about $700 to $2,700 from March 2007 to February 2009. The tubs may have been purchased from wholesalers, retailers, or home improvement stores across the country.

No injuries related to the recalled bath tubs have been reported. Consumers are urged to stop using the bath tubs and contact Crane Plumbing LLC at 866-876-3632 for a replacement. Consumers can either opt to repair the tub themselves with free replacement parts, or have a Crane service crew member replace it for them. Consumers who have been injured as a result of the recalled items may be entitled to compensation for their damages. Contact a Texas product liability lawyer for further assistance.
