California American Divers recalls Diving Wings for possible floating failure.

CPSC Federal regulators, Poseidon West, Poseidon Central, and American Divers Division have issued a recall of approximately 300 diving wings on June 23, 2009. Poseidon West, of West Lake Village, California; Poseidon Central, of Conroe, Texas; and American Divers Division, of Alexandria Bay, New York are cooperating with the voluntary recall of Besea W50 Diving Wings with Poseidon Inner Bladders after discovering the inner bladders are defective, posing a drowning hazard. The bladder on the inside of the diving wing can break and cause the wing to stop working as a floating device.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov is responsible for protecting consumers from injuries related to consumer products. Batch number 5445 is under federal recall. The batch number can be found between the “legs” of the inner bladder. The recalled products, made in Sweden, could be purchased at Poseidon dealers across the country. They retailed for approximately $366 between September 2007 and June 2008.

No injuries related to the recalled items have been reported. However, there have been 15 reported incidents of the inner bladders breaking. Consumers should stop using the recalled diving wings. A free replacement wing is available by contacting Poseidon. Questions regarding the replacement or recall can be directed to the company’s toll-free line at 877-673-4366 or email info@poseidoncentral.com. Consumers who have been injured as a result of the recalled items may be entitled to compensation for their damages. Contact a California, Texas, or New York product liability lawyer for further assistance.
