New York bus crash victim recovers $27.5 million Manhattan jury verdict!

New York City Transit bus ran over 45 year-old pedestrian and ordered by court to pay.

New York, NY(NewYorkInjuryNews.com)–A Manhattan Supreme Court jury returned a $27.5 million verdict to a 45 year old woman, who had to have her leg amputated, after a New York City Transit bus ran over her in 2005. As reported by the New York Times, lawyers for the catastrophically injured victim, 45 year-old Gloria Aguilar, argued a successful claim before the judge and jury against the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) www.mta.info.

Lawyers for the MTA questioned the judge upon the reading of the jury verdict and the judge ruled the verdict stands. Attorneys representing the transit agency, who oversees New York commuter buses, plan to appeal the verdict. Plaintiffs attorneys for Aguilar showed how the negligence of the bus driver and the MTA caused the injured victim to be run over leading to her leg being amputated to the groin at Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital. This has left her unable to work, wearing a prosthetic, and disabled for life.
