Dog Shot and Killed by Police after Biting 2 People

New York Injury News Farmingdale, New York  – On Wednesday, a vicious pit bull, without identification tags, bit two pedestrians in Farmingdale, Long Island. Nassau police shot the dog two times with tranquilizers, which apparently had no affect, before they decided to fire one fatal gunshot into the pit bull’s hip. The dog died on its way to a local animal hospital.

The large black and white dog bit a 58 year-old man on the stomach and buttocks and also bit the hand of a 48 year-old woman. The man was treated at a nearby hospital and the woman had declined medical attention.

The incident occurred at 10:20 a.m. in close proximity to a nursery school with children in the playground.

Authorities are looking for owner of the dog, and are trying to determine if the dog had rabies.
