Syosset senior killed in car accident

Long Island, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — For those who loved Dawn Leslie, Wednesday will be a day of mourning rather than a day to celebrate as Leslie, an 18-year old student from the Syosset High School and student of the month in June was killed in a car accident on Saturday while crossing the road at Oyster Bay Cove.

The accident took place just four days before Leslie was to graduate from Syosset High School with a diploma in Regents. After graduation, Leslie planned to attend Ohio’s Tiffin University to pursue a degree in criminal law. According to classmate ,Jorge Schneider, Dawn Leslie wished to become a police officer. She also added that Leslie was a likable lady and the news of her untimely demise has shattered everybody.

On Saturday at 11:10 PM, a 2003 Toyota Avalon was traveling eastwards at Route 25A hitting Leslie while she was crossing the north road. The driver of the car has not been named by police as the person tested negative on a field sobriety test. No charges have been named for the accused. However, detectives will be investigating the case that led to the death of Dawn Leslie.

The family members could not be reach until Monday afternoon. In June, Dawn Leslie was recognized as the student for the month who portrayed positive characters and academic rigor. In memory of Leslie, before Wednesday’s graduation ceremony, a moment of silence was kept to remember her.

Jenna Levere said that she wanted to sit along with Dawn Leslie during thegraduation ceremony. He also added that anyone that knew Dawn Leslie would love her.
