Albany, New York (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Three women became involved in an accident early on June 15th when the passenger van in which they were traveling stuck a road pillar on the 39 mile marker in Orange County. The accident injured 11 women who were aged between 20 to 50 years and were immediately taken to the nearby hospitals for treating their critical to non-critical injuries.

As reported by a paramedic of the Rockland Paramedic Services, Alexander Woo, the scene was chaotic as the women were yelling and screaming. Also, the firemen were facing difficulty in opening the doors of the van as the damage was immense. One of the women passengers was pregnant and was severely injured as the metal of the vehicle pierced through her arm.

It has been noted that mostly the injuries caused were internal and were suffered due to the impact of the accident. The driver, who was also killed, awes among one of the three women dead and the reason behind her fatal injury is estimated to be that she was not being protected by the seatbelt.

The responders said that the seats of the van were torn when the firefighters opened the van to take out the passengers. The police have not yet issued the identifications of the passenger victims to their respective families and an investigation is still going on. According to Woo, the vehicle in which the women were traveling was a catering company operated van.

Apart from the Rockland Paramedic Services, the victims were taken to various other hospitals like the Nyack Hospital, Arden Hill Hospital and the Good Samaritan Hospital. Also as reported by Woo, the speed limit was one of the reasons behind the accident as it is evident from the damage that has been caused to the van.
