Nicholas Papain
Nicholas Papain graduated Cum Laude from American University Washington College of Law in 1978. A Member of the Sullivan, Papain, Block, McGrath, & Cannavo, P.C. law firm for 23 years, Nick currently is President-Elect of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He is a leading trial lawyer in the state of New York advocating for clients injured as a result of defective products, motor vehicle accidents, unsafe premises, and other incidents involving negligence. Nick recovered $3.75 million for a laborer who was seriously injured in a fall during a bridge painting project. The high regard Nick’s colleagues have for his skills as a trial lawyer was best illustrated during a fee application proceeding regarding the Firm’s representation of New York State in its action against the major tobacco companies which resulted in a $25 billion recovery for the State. Mr. Papain was chosen by the five other law firms representing the State to play a critical role before a national arbitration panel, which awarded our Firm and the other firms an unprecedented fee for their contribution to what authorities hailed as “the most successful legal attack on a major public health hazard in the history of recorded civilization.” See Articles by Nicholas Papain
