Sleepy Hollow, NY – As the trial of Sleepy Hollow Detective Joseph Quinoy continues, more explanation into the series of events that led to the civil rights violations charges emerges. On Thursday, July 8, 2010, one of Quinoy’s alleged beating victims testified that Quinoy punched and kicked him when he was arrested on December 17, 2006, as reported by The Journal News.

Luis Vilches, 59, of Yonkers, admitted he went to the police department on the day of his arrest and threatened to cut Quinoy “into pieces” with the saw he had in his hand. Needless to say, Quinoy’s lawyer has labeled Vilches as crazy.

Vilches testified that the dispute began during the previous summer, when the 37-year-old detective, who is married, told Vilches he intended to have sex with his daughter while he was in jail. Vilches explained, “I was so mad for what he said…He was going to abuse my daughter.”

The testimony continued, and Vilches reported that hours after he threatened Quinoy at the police station, officers unleashed a police dog on him in a parking lot and used a stun gun on his testicles when he was on the ground.

Vilches claimed Quinoy kicked him “three or four times” after he was handcuffed.

As was previously reported in several articles, including “Sleepy Hollow NY personal injury: Witness takes stand in police beating case,” Quinoy is on trial for violating the civil rights of Vilches and another man by the name of Mario Gomez during two separate incidents in 2006.
