Legal news for product liability attorneys. Girls’ cargo pocket jackets pose a strangulation hazard to children.

The CPSC alerts product liability lawyers- Byer California recalled girls’ jackets over strangulation hazard.

San Francisco, CA—Byer California, who does business as Amy Byer, Philly, along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov/ have announced a voluntary recall of girls’ cargo pocket jackets. The CPSC initiated the recall on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Nearly 600 jackets were recalled after it was discovered that the drawstrings on the neck and waist area could pose a strangulation, or entrapment hazard to children. To date the firm has not received any reports of incidents or injuries in connection with the recalled product. The girls’ brown cargo pocket jackets were sold in sizes that ranged from small to extra-large. The style number of 2029G1J can be found on the tag inside the pocket. The recalled jackets were sold at Burlington Coat Factory, Bon Ton Stores and juvenile clothing retail stores across the U.S. from December 2008 to September 2009, for the retail price of about $12. If you have the recalled jackets in your possession, you are advised to remove the drawstrings as soon as possible, or return the jacket to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.

To receive additional information, consumers can contact Byer California at (800) 998-2937 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit www.burlingtoncoatfactory.com.
