Florida auto accident attorney alerts- Police cruiser crashed into pickup truck, causing injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Miami, FL (News)—A Miami Police Department (MPD) officer suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, March 8, 2010. The violent motor vehicle collision (MVC) reportedly occurred while the police deputy was on her way to a call, based on news coverage provided by ClickOrlando.com and the Miami Herald.

Authorities allegedly reported the Miami police deputy, identified as 28-year-old Candace Jones, was on her way to a call when she lost control of her cruiser for unknown reasons. Jones was apparently attempting to avoid a collision with another vehicle when she lost control, subsequently sending her careening into a Ford F-150 pickup truck on Northwest 17th Avenue and 20th Street.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene to transport the seriously injured officer to Ryder Trauma Center to be treated by medical professionals. Jones was allegedly “unresponsive” until emergency medical technicians (EMT) at the scene provided her with preliminary medical attention. Updated news reports noted that the police deputy was released from the medical center on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, after undergoing treatment. The driver of the pickup truck involved in the wreck suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. Eyewitnesses at the scene alleged that the officer was traveling at an excessively high rate of speed when the collision occurred. In fact, the extent of the damage sustained by police cruiser did not seem to contradict witness statements. It was unknown whether the lights and sirens on the police car were active at the time. Investigations continue.
