Florida personal injury attorney alerts- FHP cited motorist in regards to strange crash involving pickup truck, which caused minor injuries.

Cudjoe Key, FL (News)—While reports of crashes caused by motorists’ texting while driving are not so uncommon in this day and age, accidents caused by motorists’ shaving while driving, on the other hand, are. However, that is precisely what 37-year-old Megan Barnes was doing when she crashed into a pickup truck and then left the scene last week on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, according to information provided by MSNBC Miami.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officials allegedly reported that Barnes was sitting in the driver’s seat of a Ford Thunderbird, traveling on Highway 1, while her ex-husband apparently steered the vehicle from the passenger seat. One may ask why Barnes was seemingly incapable of steering on her own, and the answer to that, is because she was busy taking care of some personal grooming. Barnes was reportedly shaving her “bikini area” in preparation for a visit to the Keys, where she was expected to meet up with her boyfriend. According to reports, Barnes rear-ended a pickup truck in the midst of her distractions, causing three victims to suffer injuries. Upon striking the pickup truck, Barnes reportedly left the scene, eventually pulling over to switch seats with her ex-husband, apparently in an attempt to make it seem as if she had not been the one driving the vehicle. Barnes was allegedly convicted of a DUI and had her license revoked the day before the bizarre incident occurred.

Patrol troopers ultimately caught up with Barnes and cited her for reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash which caused injuries, and lacking insurance, according to CBS News. In regards to the outlandish shaving-while-driving incident, FHP Trooper Gary Dunick stated, “About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot…who has three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, ‘Nothing will ever beat this’…Well, this takes it.”
