Legal news for Connecticut personal injury attorneys — A worker was fatally injured when he was trapped between wall and a garbage truck in Wolcott.

Wolcott, Ct (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A worker was picking up garbage with two other crew members in Wolcott, when he became trapped between a garbage truck and a retaining wall Wednesday morning, February 24, 2010, according to Hartford Courant.

Police and medical crews arrived at the scene of the tragic accident. Eric Hassan was rushed in an ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital where doctors and nurses attempted to save his life, but tragically, his injuries proved fatal. The 24-year-old man’s co-workers said that his last words before passed away were about his kids and his family, reported the Wolcott police chief.

Police and investigating authorities reported that the three-person crew was picking up garbage in Wolcott, when Hassan stood behind the garbage truck in order to direct the driver, when something went terribly wrong. Hassan was crushed between the garbage truck and the nearby retaining wall resulting in his fatal injuries just before 7 a.m. on Midwood Avenue.

Hassan was from Waterbury and an employee of Gaudiosi Hauling. It was not reported if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) had been at the scene to conduct a full investigation into the workplace-related accident. There have been no charged filed associated with the accident. The investigation continues.
