NYC manhole explosion hospitalized 2 workers

Legal news for New York City construction accident attorneys – Two workers were injured in a manhole explosion in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) Two workers were injured and hospitalized after a manhole explosion early Wednesday morning, February 17, 2010 in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, according to WPIX.

Police reported to the scene where the blast occurred at the intersection of Harts and Broadway Streets shortly before 4:30 a.m. A passerby found the two workers, who told news sources that one of the men had blood all over one side of his face and the other man was lying on the ground not moving. It was reported that the manhole cover struck one of the men when the explosion occurred.

Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived and transported the two workers, who were Con Edison employees, via ambulance to Kings County Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. Medical officials reported that the two men sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities were not released.

This was the second manhole explosion in weeks reported MYFOXNY.com. There was a manhole blast on February 11th at the intersection of 20th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan, which occurred after a transformer fire. There were no reported injuries in the accident. The investigation continues.
