Children’s hooded drawstring sweaters recalled for strangulation hazard

Legal news for New York Product Liability attorneys –The CPSC and Jason Evan Associates LLC recalled hooded sweaters due to strangulation hazard.

New York, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov , in cooperation with Jason Evans Associates, LLC, of Hewlett, N.Y., announced the voluntary recall of Boy’s Fleece & Flannel Zip Hooded Sweatshirts with draw strings, on December 18, 2009. All consumers are urged to discontinue use of the product as soon as possible.

Close to 18, 300 of the boys hoodies were sold across the nation at Burlington Coat Factory from September 2006 through October 2009. The sweaters cost $12 to $20. The products were manufactured through DMF Sales of New York, N.Y. The sweaters pose a consumer hazard due to the drawstring, which can pose a strangulation threat to children.

There have not been any injuries or incidents related to the boys sweaters. The description of the Boys Fleece, Printed Fleece, and Flannel Zip up hoodies that are labeled with the brand “Bay Trading”. They came in sizes 4- 18 with an RN# 30842, and were sold exclusively at Burlington Coat Factory. They were manufactured in Pakistan.

All consumers who have purchased these boy’s sweaters should immediately remove the hazard by taking out the drawstring, and then return the sweater to the store of purchase, or to Jason Evans for a full refund.
