Illinois construction accident lawyers alerts- Jose Meza is dead after a tragic accident at a water reclamation plant in Chicago.

Chicago, IL—A construction accident at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago facility claimed the life of a 38-year-old South Side man. The fatal work-related accident happened on Tuesday afternoon, December 1, 2009 around 1:30 p.m. at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant in the 400 block of East 130th Street, as reported by the South Town Star.

Jose Meza, of the 6000 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, was reportedly working at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant when for unknown reasons his safety harness got caught on a gear of a Bobcat. The heavy piece of machinery then ran Meza over, fatally injuring him. Emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed to the scene to transport Meza to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. Meza was pronounced dead by doctors and nurses around 2:41 p.m., shortly after arriving for treatment. The Cook County medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy on Tuesday, and discovered he sustained multiple fatal injuries consistent with a construction vehicle accident. Calumet Area detectives are conducting a full investigation into the fatal construction accident. Federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) officials are also expected to conduct a full investigation.
