Product Liability Recall: Blenders recalled due to laceration hazard

Legal news for New York Product Liability attorneys –Haier America and CPSC recall blenders sold at retail stores due to potential injury and lacerations.

New York, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The government agency the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov in cooperation with Haier America Trading LLC, of New York, N.Y. had voluntarily recalled 53,800 Blenders due to the threat of lacerations.

The blenders were manufactured at Ka Po International Industrial Co. of Hong Kong. The danger of utilizing these blenders is that the blade assemblies of the machine can come off or break, posing the risk of receiving lacerations.

Thus far, the CPSC has received 60 reported complaints of blade assemblies that came apart or broke off. One person reported a minor injury to his hand.

The blenders can be were created in China and were described as commercial-style 500-watt blenders with the model number HB500BSS. The blenders are stainless steel with black plastic. The brand name “Haier” is printed on the front under the power switch.

The defective products were sold at most retail stores as well as specialty retailers across the nation from November 2006 through October 2009. The blenders were priced between $26 and $60. All who purchased the blenders are advised to stop using the defective product and contact Haier America for a free replacement bade assembly at (866) 327-6147or on the company’s website at www.haieramerica.com.
