Boston police officer injured in funeral procession crash!

Legal news for Massachusetts Motorcycle Accident attorneys–A Boston police officer was struck and injured by a car in a funeral procession in West Roxbury.

Boston, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A funeral procession was being led by a Boston police officer when a car crashed into the motorcyclist on Monday afternoon, November 30, 2009, announced Boston Globe. The funeral procession for a retired police officer from Boston, Investigator James E. Troy Sr, was leaving St. Theresa of Avila Church heading toward Mt. Benedict Cemetery when the crash occurred.

Emergency medical services (EMS) rushed to the scene to find that the injured officer was lying on the windshield of the car at the intersection of Weld Street in West Roxbury. EMS safety transported the 30-year-old injured officer to Brigham and Women’s Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses for non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses reported that it appeared he may have sustained from a broken leg from the impact of the crash.

The crash occurred around 11:22 a.m, when the procession was turning off of Corey Street. Police officials at the scene did not disclose the identity of the drive that hit the police officer. The officer’s name was not released.
