“My Baby Soother” pacifiers pose choking hazard

Legal news for New York Product Liability lawyers—Consumer Product Safety Commission warned NYC of hazardous product: “baby soother” pacifiers may result in potential injury.

Brooklyn, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – The government agency the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov strongly advised parents in the boroughs of New York City to stop giving their children “My Baby Soother” pacifiers October, 27, 2009.

The defective pacifiers were distributed by T & L Trading Corp., of Brooklyn, New York. The CPSC reported that the child pacifier’s did not meet government product safety requirements. The reason for the alert is that the nipple of the pacifier can separate from the base, which can pose a choking hazard for children.

The CPSC issued this warning because T & L Trading declined to recall these defective pacifiers. Close to 16,500 of the “My Baby Soother” products have been distributed throughout the Bronx, Broadway, Brooklyn, and Coney Island. The potentially hazardous pacifiers were sold at grocery stores, delis, and discount stores. The products were sold for $1 from August 2007 to July 2009.

The description of the product is that they have a ring shaped handle and a pink, blue, yellow, or white heat-shaped mouth guard with two ventilation holes. “My Baby Soother” nipple is made out of latex or silicon. A picture of a baby is printed on the front of the packaging with the product name “My Baby Soother”.

The companies and stores who have purchased and/or sell these hazardous products are strongly advised to stop immediately and contact the CPSC. Mothers and Fathers are advised to discontinue the use of the pacifiers for the safety of their babies and toddlers.
