Construction Accident News: Worker seriously injured by car crash

Legal news for Connecticut Construction Accident lawyers—Police officials reported a car crashed into a construction worker who was fixing a sewer line.

West Hartford, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A construction worker suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a car on Asylum Avenue Monday night, announced the Hartford Courant, October 27, 2009.

Police officials and emergency medical services arrived at the scene of the incident where the Texas worker had been struck by a car crossing the road.

Police officials reported that the tragic incident took place at 7 p.m. west of Ballard Drive in West Hartford. The injured worker was identified as 49-year-old Robert Sivage, a resident of Austin, Texas.

EMS transported Robert to the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center to be treated for his injuries by doctors and nurses. His injuries were not specified. Police did not identify the driver of the eastbound Buick that struck the worker. The driver was reportedly unharmed in the crash.

Robert had been working on a sewer line on Asylum Avenue. The part of the road the crew was working on had been blocked off. Traffic was continuing to drive in both directions on each side of the blocked off work area. Robert was reportedly attired in a reflective helmet and vest when the car struck him. Asylum Avenue was shut down temporarily after the accident.
