16 students hospitalized for fumes at school!

Legal news for Maryland Premises Liability attorneys- 16 children sent to hospital for injuries due to fume inhalation.

Glen Burnie, MD (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — An area middle school was temporarily evacuated due to fumes that sent sixteen students to the local hospital, announced CNN.

The fumes were traced to the work that was being done on the school buildings roofs which was circulated throughout the school building through the schools air conditioning system.

The fume problem became noticeable around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police arrived on the scene at Corkran Middle School located in Anne Arundel County to investigate. All the students and teachers were told to evacuate the building after sixteen middle school children were transported to the hospital for various fume-related injuries.

Police reported that contractors who were hired to work on the roof were using aluminum roofing materials along with a glue substance, which produced the fumes. The contractor was not named.

The students that were taken to the hospital suffered from upset stomachs and head pain. Another student was taken home by parents. County firefighters responded to the scene after the evacuation while the school was aired out so that students could return for regular classes. School resumed at 10 a.m after the school buildings were ventilated with fresh air and the air conditioning system was shut off.
