Cincinnati, Ohio–The Kroger Co. has participated in a voluntary recall of its Super Kids Enriched White Sandwich Bread. Kroger is a supermarket chain headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The recall was issued after discovering the product may contain milk, an ingredient not listed on the packaging label. For those allergic to milk, consumption of the recalled sandwich bread may cause serious or fatal reactions. Otherwise, the product is safe for people not allergic to milk. Safety regulators with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov announced the recall on August 21, 2009.

The following item is under federal recall:

- 20 oz. package of Kroger Super Kids Enriched White Sandwich Bread bearing a 1111000831 UPC code with various expiration dates
The recalled bread items were sold in a number of Kroger, Jay C Food, and Food 4 Less stores. Kroger stores in 13 states are a part of the recall. The 13 states are West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Georgia, and Alabama. Food 4 Less stores located in Illinois and Indiana and Jay C Food locations in Indiana are also a part of the recall. Kroger stores in the following states are not subject to the recall: Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
