Campus-wide power outage injured electrical worker at UNH!

Legal news for New Hampshire Construction Accident lawyers—A high voltage switchgear exploded injuring an electrician and gave Durham, NH campus a power outage.

Durham, NH (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — University of New Hampshire (UNH) experienced a campus-wide loss of power and injured a high voltage electrician on Wednesday, announced Fosters Daily Democrat.

The I-C, Reed sub contractor sustained minor burn injuries and was transported to the hospital to be examined and treated for his injuries by doctors and nurses. The UNH representative said that the contractor had returned to work on Thursday after the incident.

The power outage occurred in the 4’clock hour when workmen were performing tests on high voltage switchgear, which was set up as a part of the EcoLine development project. The switchgear was part of the set up for a second generator that will utilize excess landfill gas to create energy for the grid.

One of the tests failed and caused an explosion. The explosion resulted in a fire on the telephone poll, which was quickly extinguished carefully. The whole campus was up and running Wednesday evening. There was minor equipment damage due to the accident. It was not said if firefighters were present at the scene. There were not any other injuries reported due to the accident.
