Electrical subcontractor was fatally injured at Worchester County Supermarket construction site where police report.

Stow, MA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – A resident of Athol, in Worchester County, was killed last week after being electrocuted while working on a Supermarket renovating job, announced The Beacon-Villager.

Stow police officials reported that the 33-year-old electrician was working Tuesday on renovating the Shaw Supermarket locate on Great Road in Stow, Massachusetts. Around 3 p.m. Fire Rescue and Medical officials responded to the scene where the electrician, whose name has been withheld, was electrocuted at the job site. He was transported via ambulance to the Emerson Hospital. Doctors later declared the electrician to have died from his injuries.

The man had been employed by an electrical service provider to work on the Supermarket. A spokeswoman from the West Bridge-water based supermarket chain reported that the Supermarket is performing their own inside inquiry to determine as well as cooperating with officials to determine the cause of the accident.

Another electrician who was working as a subcontractor on the Supermarket renovations had been involved in an unfortunate incident at the site earlier this month. Shaw Supermarket representative stated that safe working conditions are a priority for all of their construction sites and it is an obligation for any contractors to abide by the safety laws in order to prevent accidents.

The name of the electrical subcontractor or the general independent contractor was not released. The electricians death was reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) www.OSHA.gov/ . OSHA is currently investigating the accidents to determine if it was a safety related accident and if citations will be issued.
