Firefighter related injury alert: Fiery explosion on West Main injured 2 firefighters

Legal News for Pennsylvania Firefighter-related injury attorney - 2 firefighters were injured when a Pizzeria exploded in fire.

Monongahela, PA (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) — Residents on the 200 block of West Main Street heard the explosion that created the Vocelli Pizza into a fiery inferno, and damaged other properties close by, announced the Monessen Valley Independent.

Witnesses who heard the explosion left their apartments to see what happened. They discovered that the Vocelli Pizza had erupted into flames, while the two adjacent businesses — The Bee’s Nest Café and the Hufnagel Softeware and Computers. All of the apartment residents living above the businesses quickly evacuated the building through the backdoors. Witnesses reported seeing shattered glass and debris spread out all over the street and billowing smoke coming from below.

Firefighters reported to the scene where the blaze was burning high and out of control. One firefighter, Pemberton, was injured when the ladder bent causing him to fall onto the adjacent buildings roof. Emergency medical officials transported the injured firefighter to Monongahela Valley Hospital located in Carroll Township. Another firefighter, Steve Anders, was injured when chard’s of glass and excessive smoke hit him during another explosion. Emergency medical officials treated him on the scene.

Firefighters from all the local towns responded to the fiery inferno. A State Police Fire Marshall will be investigating the fire to identify the cause of the explosion and the reason the ladder bent that injured the firefighter. The 200 block of West Main Street has been blocked off due to further investigation to determine the method to demolish the pizzeria structure and figure out the cause of the explosion. The building had already begun to collapse due to the immense heat and destructive flames that firefighters had put out.

Police reported that the all the tenants living upstairs were alerted to the fire due to the boom of the explosion and neighbors that had become aware of the situation and they all escaped unharmed before the smoke and flames took the building.
