Woman in northbound lanes hit a semi truck in Long Island Sound and was fatally injured in an interstate 95 accident.

Westport, CT (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – In Long Island Sound in Fairfield County, a woman was killed when her vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on I-95 early morning Wednesday, announced The Advocate.

The woman, resident of Norfolk, identified as 21-year-old Kendall Turek was declared dead by police who arrived at the scene. Officials found the young woman in the driver’s seat of her badly damaged 1996 Chrysler Cirrus. The scene of the accident took place between exits 17 and 18 in the northbound traffic lanes of traffic around 1 a.m. in the morning. Westport Fire Rescue workers reported to the scene to assist.

Police officials reported that Turek was driving above the speed limit at the time that her car barreled into the back of the slowed down semi truck. Turek was transported to the Chief medical examiner’s office.

The truck driver, identified as 30-year-old Annera Reyes, resident of West New York, NJ, was reportedly unharmed in the crash. Officials also stated that both drivers were alone in their respective vehicles at the time of the accident. Interstate 95 northbound lanes were temporarily closed off from normal traffic flow for an hour while the lanes where the accident took place were shut down for close to 4 hours for cleanup.

Accusations were not made as of Wednesday. Investigating detectives are looking into the accident further to determine the cause.
