New Jersey man killed by 1,500 pound steel plate in fatal construction accident
New Jersey Construction Accident Attorney reports NJ construction worker fatally injured when hit by steel plate on site.
Woodbridge, NJ (NewYorkInjuryNews.com) – An Edison, New Jersey resident suffered mortal wounds when a steel plate fell on his head after it slipped off of backhoe chains last week in Woodbridge Township announced by the Sentinel. Police officials reported that the accident happened in the afternoon on Blair Road near the Conrail crossing in the borough of Woodbridge.
Authorities found the 26-year-old man, identified as Luis Tavares, laying on the ground bleeding. Luis Tavares was an employee of Lucas Construction Group Inc., which is based out of Morganville, New Jersey.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived with the local first aid team and the local Avenel along with the Port Reading township Fire department rescue workers who arrived on the scene where the construction worker laid unresponsive due to a severe head wound where the plate hit him.
Paramedics transported the construction worker to Rahway Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses for his severe injuries that proved fatal less than an hour after the accident.
Authorities from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) http://www.osha.gov/ investigated the construction worker and the Lucas Construction Group owner. Officials are still investigating this fatal accident.
