2 construction workers buried alive in concrete at Lenoir City sewage treatment site.

Knoxville, TN (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A tragic construction accident in Lenoir City left one construction worker dead and another worker seriously injured on Monday, July 6. The two construction workers were reportedly buried by concrete when the form they were working on collapsed from underneath them, as reported by Knoxnews.com.
The two construction workers, who have not been identified, were working on an expansion of the Lenoir City sewage treatment plant on Nelson Street.

The Lenoir City Police Department stated, the two men employed by Bowen Engineering, were pouring concrete into a 30-foot-plus wall form when the form collapsed around 2:10 p.m. Accident reports indicate the two men fell into the concrete burying them completely. Rural/Metro Ambulance Service and area rescue crews pulled the first victim from the concrete at 2:37 p.m., and the second victim was rescued at 2:48 p.m. Police officials stated one of the victims was airlifted by helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of his injuries sustained in the catastrophic collapse.

The second victim was reportedly transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to Fort Loudoun Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The Lenoir City Fire Department claimed both men were in critical condition from their injuries on Monday afternoon, which is consistent with being crushed and drowned from the weight of the concrete. Updated reports indicated one of the victims died on Monday evening from his critical crush injuries sustained in the tragic construction accident.
