New York truck driver found must pay $750,000

New Jersey jury verdict rules traffic directing New York truck driver 50% liable.

New York, NY(NewYorkInjuryNews.com)–As reported by MSNBC, a New Jersey court room found a New York truck driver 50% liable for the $1.5 million jury verdict ruled for damages suffered by a New Jersey motorcyclist. According to court records, David Carhuamacca, a truck driver from Queens, New York, waved an automobile driver out of a Neptune Township, New Jersey, doughnut store parking lot and into traffic. When the Neptune Township driver, Thurman Baker, pulled onto Route 33. in Monmouth County, he crashed into a motorcycle rider.

The motor vehicle collision(MVC) caused biker, Michael Lewis of Asbury Park, to suffer serious physical damages and injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, a permanent arm injury, and five broken teeth. The final jury verdict compensated the seriously injured motorcyclist $1.5 million. Carhuamacca was found 50% responsible based on a New Jersey law which holds drivers responsible if they negligently wave other drivers into traffic.
