New York Wrongful Death - Binghamton gunman sent Syracuse TV station killing spree letter

Syracuse News 10 releases letter from Binghamton suicide gunman.

New York, NY (NewYorkInjuryNews.com)–The Associated Foreign Press (AFP) reported on Tuesday, 41-year-old Jiverly Voong, who had legally changed his name from Wong to Voong recently, had sent a letter to a television station before he went on a gun rampage in Binghamton, New York last Friday. Voong had dated the letter March 18, 2009, but the letter wasn’t posted until Friday, the day of his killing spree in Binghamton. The letter Voong sent to the television station was two pages long and stated the police were to blame for his life going badly. He blamed the police for his rampage killing 13 people. News 10 now in Syracuse, New York received the letter.

The letter Voong sent claimed he had started the rampage because an undercover cop had been giving him a hard time. He said the police were responsible for him loosing his job at a Shop Vac Facility. Voong also stated the police were responsible for people looking down upon him, and rumors being spread about him.

Voong walked into The American Civic Association located in Binghamton, New York, last Friday, donning body armor and unleashed a hail of gunfire. He started off by shooting two receptionists. He then strolled into a classroom where an English lesson was being given to local immigrants trying to learn their new language and continued the killing spree. Voong shot 12 people and then turned the gun on himself. Among the dead were one of the receptionists, 4 Chinese nationals, and a Philippine woman identified as Dolores Carbonillas Yigal. The second receptionist, Voong shot, was responsible for raising the alarm. She played dead after Voong shot her in the stomach, crawled under her desk, and called 911 from her cell phone. The Binghamton Police Chief hailed the brave receptionist as a hero.
